Terms
LifeOS Terms & Conditions
The terms for LifeOS bill checks, clinics and the Bill Watchdog.
1. Who we are
LifeOS is Shane Murphy's self-employed business, based in Dromsally, Cappamore, Co. Limerick, Ireland.
Email: hello@lifeos.ie
Business and correspondence address: Dromsally, Cappamore, Co. Limerick, Ireland.
We help households and businesses understand their electricity, gas and broadband bills and consider available alternatives.
2. When you use our service
These terms cover free bill checks, employer-paid staff clinics and the paid Bill Watchdog when it is available. An enquiry or area-interest registration does not book a clinic, start a subscription or authorise a switch.
Before a paid service starts, we confirm what is included, who pays, the total price including any applicable taxes, the start date, the paid period and the cancellation terms. We give you those details and these terms before you agree, and send confirmation by email or on paper. A supplier's energy or broadband contract is separate from your agreement with LifeOS.
3. Free household and business checks
A first household bill check is free. We review the tariff, usage, standing charges and relevant contract terms using the information you provide.
A business electricity or gas check is also free, with no obligation to switch. If a business switches with LifeOS, our partner SaveAdvice pays LifeOS a referral fee. The prices and contract terms will be explained before the business decides. This is different from our domestic service: LifeOS takes no commission on household switches.
We compare the available options we can access. We do not promise to include every supplier or tariff in the market. You can ask which options were checked. Nothing changes unless the account holder or an authorised representative agrees to the switch and the required supplier paperwork.
4. Employer-paid staff clinics
We agree a clinic date and arrangements with the employer. The employer provides a suitable room and a rota. Staff decide whether to take part, whether to switch and whether to agree a return visit.
The price is €44 per employee who takes the service, per year. The employer owes the €44 when the employee either switches or agrees a come-back. A free review or attendance alone does not create a charge. If the employee passes, there is no charge. Staff pay nothing under this employer-funded arrangement. There is no commission on staff household switches.
We confirm the service start and invoice arrangements with the employer before booking. Paying for a clinic does not allow an employer to authorise a switch on an employee's account. We explain what participation information the employer receives before staff opt in. The employer does not need a household bill or account number to pay for the benefit.
### Cancelling a clinic
If the employer cancels more than 24 hours before the agreed clinic start, any clinic booking payment is fully refundable. If the employer cancels 24 hours or less before the start, that booking payment is not refundable. This rule concerns a booking payment already agreed; it does not turn every employee on the rota into a chargeable participant or create a new cancellation fee.
If LifeOS cancels, the employer can choose a new date or a refund of any booking payment. This policy does not remove rights arising from LifeOS failing to provide the agreed service.
5. The Bill Watchdog
The Bill Watchdog is an optional paid service for ongoing bill help. We keep an eye on available rates during the agreed paid period and help you revisit a deal when it makes sense. The agreed service details explain the checks and contact you can expect. This does not mean continuous access to your supplier account or automatic switching.
The household price is €6 per month or €44 per year, with no other household charge. The website currently does not take payments or subscriptions. Asking about Watchdog does not start a paid subscription.
Before a paid service begins, we confirm its start, duration, payment arrangements and whether it renews automatically. Any renewal or change in price must follow the terms clearly agreed before purchase.
### Cancelling the Watchdog
You can tell us at any time that you do not want to renew. Your service then runs to the end of the month or year you have already paid for. There is no pro-rata refund just because you choose to stop part-way through that paid period.
This does not limit your cooling-off rights, your rights if the service is faulty or not supplied as agreed, or any other refund required by law. Those rights take priority over the ordinary cancellation policy.
6. What we promise, and what we do not
We carry out the agreed work with reasonable care and skill, explain the comparison and disclose relevant charges and terms we know about. If staying put is the better option, we say so.
Savings are not guaranteed. Figures such as €600 or €600+ describe a possible result, not a promise, minimum saving or proven average. Estimates depend on your actual usage, current deal, available rates, standing charges, discounts, exit fees and the comparison period. We explain the assumptions. Changes in usage or supplier prices can change the result.
LifeOS is not your electricity, gas or broadband supplier. The supplier is responsible for its supply, billing and contract obligations. This does not remove our responsibility for our own work or mistakes. We do not give legal, investment or tax advice or guarantee that an employer benefit qualifies for a tax exemption.
7. Bills and authority to switch
Please give accurate, current information and tell us about relevant contract dates, discounts and exit fees. If you act for a business or someone else's account, you must have authority to do so. We obtain the authority needed before arranging a switch.
At a clinic, you can show Shane the bill there and then. You can also send it directly by a route that suits you, such as email or WhatsApp. Please send only the information needed and remove unrelated details where possible. The Privacy & Data notice explains how we handle it.
Do not put bills, supplier account numbers or payment details into the website enquiry forms. If an account or meter identifier is needed before a switch, give it directly to Shane or tell him in person. Never send banking passwords, card security codes or supplier login passwords through the forms.
8. Consumer cooling-off rights
If you buy a LifeOS service as a consumer online, by phone or by another distance method, you normally have 14 days from the day the service contract is made to cancel without giving a reason. Consumer off-premises service contracts normally also have 14 days. Certain contracts made during an unsolicited visit to your home or a trader-organised sales excursion have 30 days under Irish law.
These statutory consumer rules do not automatically apply to an employer or other business buying in a business capacity. A personal purchase at a workplace clinic may be an off-premises consumer contract; its applicable rights must be explained before agreement.
To cancel, email hello@lifeos.ie or write to the address above with a clear statement that you want to cancel. You may use the model form below but do not have to. Tell us before the period ends and keep proof. We refund payments due within 14 days of being told, using the same payment method unless you agree otherwise, without a refund fee.
We do not start a paid consumer service during the cooling-off period unless you expressly ask us to start on a durable medium, such as email, and receive the required information. If you request an early start and then cancel before full performance, we may charge only a proportionate amount for the service actually supplied before cancellation, where the law allows it. No such charge is due if you did not expressly request an early start or we did not provide the required information.
The cooling-off right can be lost after full performance only if all legal conditions are met, including your prior express request and acknowledgement. An initial review or switch does not fully provide a year of Watchdog support. Starting early does not itself remove your right to cancel that unfinished service.
Missing legally required cancellation information can extend the cancellation period. Nothing in these terms reduces that protection. Cancelling LifeOS is not itself a reliable way to cancel a separate supplier contract: tell us what you wish to cancel and follow the supplier's process too. Statutory rights concerning related contracts remain unaffected.

9. Problems and refunds
If something is wrong, email hello@lifeos.ie and explain what happened. We will investigate and try to put it right.
Consumer law may require us to fix a service problem without charge, within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience. Where appropriate, you may be entitled to a price reduction or to end the contract and receive a refund. These rights are separate from changing your mind and do not expire with the cooling-off period.
We do not use our ordinary cancellation policies to override those rights. Refunds required by consumer law are made within the applicable timeframe and by the required method.
10. Responsibility
We are responsible for failing to carry out our obligations with reasonable care and skill. A forecast saving is not automatically compensation owed if your usage changes or a supplier changes its prices.
We do not accept responsibility for losses caused solely by inaccurate information you supplied, an independently changing offer or a supplier's own failure, where those losses are not also caused by our breach. We remain responsible for our own errors and any liability the law places on us.
Nothing excludes or limits fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, statutory consumer rights, data-protection rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. There is no automatic fee-sized liability cap in these terms.
11. Privacy, changes and law
Our Privacy & Data notice explains how we handle personal information. Staff receive the relevant information before providing bills or account details.
Changes to these terms apply to future agreements unless a lawful change mechanism was clearly agreed for an existing service. Posting new terms does not silently rewrite a paid agreement.
Irish law applies, subject to mandatory protections under applicable consumer law. Nothing prevents a consumer from using the courts or complaint routes available to them by law.
